The
society was
founded in 1969 as Amersham & Chesham Film Society. It was
originally based at the White Hill Centre and later at the Elgiva Theatre, Chesham.
Facilities
In 1999 the Society moved to the Town's new Elgiva, a venue which
offers
excellent facilities, including comfortable, tiered seating, the latest
digital sound system, cinemascope screen and spacious lounge foyer with
licensed bar; at that point we changed our title to Chiltern Film Club.
Name change
This
year we decided to revert to the original 'Society' title as it
reflects our primary aim, which is to provide a showcase for world
cinema, and to bring to everyone the opportunity to see the best of
international films. Although still independently run by our members,
we
work closely in partnership with the management and staff of the Elgiva.
39th Season
Now in our 39th Season, we are offering a
wide-ranging programme of 15 films, from ten different countries such
as
India, Morocco, Australia and Uruguay, as well as the USA and a number
of European countires.
